What you do

  • Lead and develop a team of seven software engineers through regular feedback, coaching, career development, and inclusive leadership.
  • Stay hands-on by contributing to software development, technical investigations, solution design, code reviews, and incident analysis.
  • Guide the team in building and operating reliable software across industrial Raspberry Pi-based edge devices and AWS services.
  • Help the team establish strong practices for coding, testing, automation, documentation, monitoring, and production operations.
  • Collaborate closely with the team’s Product Owner to translate business needs into clear priorities and deliver meaningful business outcomes.
  • Improve the team’s way of working together with the Scrum Master and other team leads. This includes improving planning, prioritization, ownership, decision-making, quality, and follow-through.
  • Help the team move from reactive incident handling toward prevention, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Reduce unnecessary dependencies and handoffs, and strengthen collaboration with product teams, operations, systems engineers, and architects.
  • Support the team in making transparent, timely technical decisions while balancing short-term delivery with long-term sustainability.
  • Identify technical risks and technical debt, and ensure they are considered in planning and prioritization.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and team development.

Who you are

  • You are an experienced software engineer who enjoys remaining technically engaged and contributing hands-on.
  • You have experience leading, mentoring, or developing software engineers. Formal people-management experience is a must; equivalent leadership experience gained through technical leadership, mentoring, or project ownership is also welcome.
  • You have practical experience with several of the following: Linux-based systems, edge devices, AWS and cloud-based systems, Infrastructure as code, production operations, monitoring, and incident response, Python, Event-based messaging patterns and distributed systems.
  • You are comfortable understanding systems across the edge-to-cloud landscape and connecting device constraints with reliable, maintainable cloud solutions.
  • You can set direction and boundaries while giving people room to solve problems independently.
  • You communicate clearly, listen actively, and can facilitate healthy technical debate and decisive outcomes.
  • You are committed to inclusive leadership, candid feedback, and continuous learning.
  • You are pragmatic and able to balance speed, quality, technical risk, and long-term value.
  • You are motivated to help a team become more capable, autonomous, and sustainable.
