We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to build and operate our Vehicle Grid Integration (VGI) platform, which unlocks the flexibility of electric vehicles for energy markets. This role sits at the core of our cloud infrastructure, with ownership of scalable backend services and systems running on AWS that connect EVs to the larger energy ecosystem.
In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize cloud-based solutions that process data from charging infrastructure and vehicles, enabling smart charging, V2G capabilities, and energy flexibility trading. You will work closely with other engineers, product managers, and energy experts to ensure our platform is reliable, observable, and highly scalable.
This role is best suited for senior-level engineers with at least 7 years of professional experience who are comfortable taking end-to-end ownership of cloud infrastructure—embracing the "you build it, you ship it, you run it" DevOps mindset.
- Develop and maintain highly scalable cloud-based backend services, primarily using Python
- Architect and optimize solutions that provide EV and charge point flexibility to energy markets
- Enhance system reliability, scalability, observability, and cost-efficiency across our AWS cloud infrastructure
- Apply software engineering best practices: modular design, design patterns, testing, CI/CD, and code reviews
- Operate containerized workloads (Docker) and integrate databases (PostgreSQL, Redis, DynamoDB) into your modern architectures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate VGI complexities (like grid constraints and charging schedules) into robust technical systems
- Implement cutting-edge technologies and uphold the highest security and quality standards for critical energy infrastructure
- Utilize TypeScript for Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) setups and maintain some existing TypeScript backend components
We care more about strong engineering fundamentals than experience with every specific tool listed
